[DeTomaso] A machine screw as a tire plug

Hmm, now for the heretical opinion:

I've been using the el cheapo 'stringy' tire plugs and rubber cement to
patch nail and screw holes for 35 years from the outside (hell if I'm going
to pull the tire off the rim!); lost count of how many that has been (>100,
probably).

NEVER have had one fail; certainly NOT had the tire 'come apart.'

Livin' on borrowed time, I guess :)

Mike

DO NOT use a kit from the auto parts store, those are for emergencies and
you can kiss that tire goodbye.

It needs to be patched and lpugged from the inside ( about $20.00 )

If you want to see what happens when you use an outside tire plug, send me
an email

Pressurized air gets into the tire layers and causes the tire to come
apart, very dangerous.
