David,
I have a Denso alternator which is very high quality and output ( I think 180 amps) and looks great. It wasn't cheap, but it's suppose to be much better than others out there. It's one wire, but has high quality electronics. The shop I bought it from said most 1 wire alternators have cheap electronics which makes them inferior to multi-wire alternators. I can send photos if you are interested. It is direct bolt on replacement for the Ford alternator.
Ken

Subject: [DeTomaso] Tire pressures, alternators
Now that my car is on the road, I've got a couple of operating questions for the collective wisdom of this group...
1) I'm running 17 inch tires 335 35 rear, 215 45 front. What have folks settled on as optimal tire pressures?
2) I'm looking for a replacement alternator? With the A/C, cooling fans, and lights on, mine cant keep up. Truthfully, it doesnt charge at all unitl about 1500 rpm and then kicks out 75 amps, but if you are idling around from stoplight to stoplight the battery is just draining. I dont see a regulator anywhere on the car, so I assume this alternator has it built in.
David
