[DeTomaso] Blower mystery demystified

My experience from driving a Mercedes with such a circulation pump broken
for several years is that it doesn't block water flow when not running. It
aids heating when the car is at idle for prolonged periods but as soon as
engine revs are off idle it makes no noticable difference. This would apply
to a Pantera too if the heater is connected to the stock conecctions on the
engine.

My experience from driving a Pantera is that when the lever is set to "Hot"
it gets crazy hot in the car. When you want heating for driving in temps
around 10 C you work with the lever very close to the "Cool" end of the
scale.

I did something similar Jim, but I managed to make mine more complicated.

I used the original three position switch in the stock bottom position to
give OFF/AIR/AC positions. This also selects the condenser relay full time
when the AC is on. In either AIR or AC position, the fan runs in LOW speed
with the blower fan switch in OFF position.

The original blower FAN switch runs MED in LOW position and HI in HI
position.

The blower fan is only off if both the AIR switch and the FAN switch are
OFF.

I use a little electric Mercedes heater pump for hot coolant circulation
through the heater core. I hid a tiny microswitch inside the heater control
so that it only runs when the TEMP lever is in HOT position. Other wise NO
hot coolant flows through the core.

If the AIR position is selected and the TEMP lever is not in HOT, the fan
blows air that is not heated or cooled.

I have a wiring diagram that Bill Taylor helped me with. An early version of
it is here:

When I installed mine, I just hooked the low speed to the unused switch at
the
bottom of the console while using the original fan switch for the medium and
high settings.  Not totally stock but stock looking.

Being an "all stock" guy, how did you handle the 3-speed switching?
