[DeTomaso] Electric Parking Brake Caliper Actuator

I think we are talking about two different animals here, modern electic brakes are tied to multiple inputs from the vehicle combined with electronic wizardry of the likes unbeknown to Lucas. The latest versions of electronic e-brakes are capable to apply the e-brake when stopped and release on hitting the gas i.e. a hill start feature.

I don't know that the UK has relaxed on the e-brake function requirement within MOT (tested annually on a rolling road) so I would assume that the electronic versions do offer full e-brake functionality.

Adding an electonic actuator to a Pantera e-brake is somewhat different and maybe only viable in the US where in many states any POS is road legal as long as it's not visibly polluting the atmosphere (and I mean smoking, as there are many cars that visibly pollute from an aesthetic look IMO). Although you may be able to actuate such a device in an emergency unless tied to some electronics it will be 'on' or 'off' and thus immediately locking up the rear wheels in the 'on' position, whereas there is still some feathering available to the operator with a std e-brake handle to come to a controlled stop.

Such a system make make handbrake turns a little more challenging too :>)

Julian (spending his money on a decent set of Brembo or Stoptech mechanical e-brake calipers and still pulling his own handle)
