Availability varies from slim, to none.   They are only made in tiny 
batches, and quickly sell out.   Last year Tire Rack had some, and I helped ship a 
couple of pairs to Europe.   The cost at the time was a staggering $500+ 
per tire.   I just checked now; the price has gone up to $729, but 
availability has gone to 'back order' which might mean years.

We were in Larry Stock's shop yesterday, and he had his last pair sitting 
on the floor, apparently sold to somebody in Europe (was it you?)   He told 
us that he ordered 20 tires from Pirelli back when they were $225 each (!), 
and after many months, he received FOUR, for $450 each.   He called to ask 
WTF and learned that Pirelli had only shipped eight of those tires to the 
entire country, and because his order was one of the oldest they had on file, 
they partially filled it.  Ever since, over the years, whenever these tires 
arrive in the country, he receives a token shipment--two here, four there.   
The price is always substantially higher than it used to be, and when he 
calls to ask WTF about that, they just tell him he should be grateful they're 
still honoring his existing order, and if he doesn't want them, he's welcome 
to just ship them back.

I wonder if availability is any better in Europe now?
