[DeTomaso] A/C Vents needed 1973 and 70s Lincolns

I too had heard the vents were from 70's Lincolns and/or Thunderbirds. I
did find vents from a Thunderbird in which the center moving pieces were the
same but the surround was part of a larger dash piece. One would have to
fabricate the surround parts.

Dear Steve,

I hope your memory is correct. I hope that someone can confirm
that early 70's Lincoln AC vents are the same and can be a source.

                      Fingers crossed, Chuck Engles

I remember Gary Hall telling me one time that he got them from early 1970's
Lincoln's.

The supply of stock A/C vents dried up years ago. About the only place to
get them is from a wrecked car, I think. The GT5 vents (which are
completely different in size/shape) are available, but really wouldn't work
with a stock dash unless you completely recovered the front of the dash with
a piece of metal or wood.

FWIW the actual moving part of the A/C vents is the same between the early-
and late-style interiors, but the housings are completely different. The
early interiors use a sheetmetal surround, upholstered in vinyl, while the
late interiors use a plastic surround.
