[DeTomaso] Edelbrock carbs

I've had 2 Holleys new, right out of the box.  Both worked perfectly.

Wait - make that 4, but the last 2 were on a 2x4 manifold.

I think a lot has to do with the carburetor being clean, and with no leaks.

I don't like the Edelbrock/Carter carburetor.  My complaints are that I like
the look of Holleys better, plus I know how to tune Holleys and I don't want
to relearn.  Neither of my complaints have anything to do with Holleys being
better carburetors.

                 Well, you asked for an opinion.

            After years of suffering headaches with Holleys, I finally
decided to have one custom purpose built for the engine I built in the
Pantera.  It worked so well that the second engine got the same treatment.
I think Charlie McCall is referring to the same fellow that I would
recommend to you.

          You can send him your carb with the appropriate data about your
drivetrain, engine and car.  When the carb returns, it will be near perfect
and specific for your engine.


          The other opinion is that if Edelbrock carbs work as well as
Roland says, then I am sorry I have committed to custom Holleys, but they do
run well .

I just got home from the Rod Run in Tenn. 1362 was a big hit gathering lots
of attention. I had my Holley carb tuned just right when I left home, but
when I got stuck in traffic for a few minutes it started running rich, then
on the way home was surging. I had one of these Edelbrocks
http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/1412/10002/-1 on a SBC that was perfect
out of the box. I tempted to scrap the Holly DP and go with this. Any
