No apology necessary!?   I thought I made it clear that my measurement was 
only approximate--it's difficult to do it properly.   What I did was measure 
the outside radius of the tube.   If you measured along the inside, the 
figure would likely be an inch shorter?

So, different people may come up with different figures based upon the 
particularly methodology used.   I need to pull the crank out of my spare block 
on Monday, so while I'm at it I'm going to set up a camera and shoot photos 
to accompany measurements, so we'll all be on the same page at last. :>)
