Take a drum/gas can to the airport. When/if they ask what the gas is for tell them it is for your boat! Fuel for water craft are exempt from road tax so you have then relieved the airport of any liability.

Since road tax is not collected on Avgas it puts the person selling the
avgas in a bad spot. The government is not likely to go after the buyer
since there is not much they can do to them except a fine. The seller
however can gain large fines and loose their ability to sell fuel. This
means the seller is risking his lively hood to sell you some gas for your
car.

Airport operators are always walking fine lines with some one just looking
to hang them. My friend with an FBO had a guy washing airplanes. He saw
someone in the shadows and it spooked him. He went to the hanger next door
to get my friend the owner. When they returned to approach the man in the
shadows it turned out to be an FAA inspector just trying to see what they
would do if they found some one in a secure area. This is a small FBO
hanger. The FAA fined them $10,000 because the person washing the aircraft
did not approach him immediately but instead left to get back up so to
speak.
