You have a roller cam that the builder used a bronze gear.
That implies a steel cam core.  Lunati and Crane market gears
that work with steel cam cores.

If you put in a second bronze gear, let us know if it lasts longer
than the first.  I've been told but not verified that the second
gear generally lasts longer than the first.

That's because they know what material their cam is made of and what
material the distributor gear needs to be.  They also have quality
control programs to make sure the material spec is met.  My Mustang GT
has 220,000+ miles on its steel cam and steel gear.
