[DeTomaso] gas tank float switch

Dear Bill and Richard,

Is this bend downward toward the bottom of the tank a
smallish or medium size bend----just to give me the basic range of this
tweak?

                                  Fun with gas, Chuck Engles

Chuck,

To raise the readings on the gauge, bend the float arm toward the bottom of
the tank. This will make the float move closer to the upper sender limit
when released and this will cause the gauge to read closer to FULL. When
bending the float arm hold the float arm in two places. Do not bend the
float arm against the resistance of the float arm pivot and the sender stop.

Have fun today,

Ach du Lieber! That is the problem that I am having.

I have a new gas tank sender and pick up modified after
purchase for a larger gas line that was installed and didn't work. I found
that the float was hitting the side of the tank. I tweaked it and it had
full range of motion within the tank. Then, once "fixed" it does "work",
but all the readings are lower than normal. So, which way do you bend the
float arm to approach a correct reading?
