Mike,

I recently did a garage floor project and chose the "Acid Stain", my floor can be seen here http://home.comcast.net/~parapantera/site/?/page/The_Garage_Project/. The cost was considerably less than a coating, and since it etches into the concrete it is more durable. Do a search for "acid stained concrete" for more information.

Ron

Subject: [DeTomaso] NPC: Painting Garage Floors

I'm starting to research painting my garage floor as the final step in a
garage-ma-hall" project to give the Pantera and her stablemates a proper
nvironment to rest in.
I'd like to know what experience the collective has regarding types of floor
reatments, doing it yourself vs. hiring somebody, etc.
I have a three-bay garage with about 8' of extra shop/space across the back.
ooking at most of the DIY offerings, were I to do it myself, I would
robably not try to do all three bays at once as there is just too much
tuff to find another home for, short of renting a portable storage pod to
ut in the driveway and finding another garage to put the Pantera in during
he process. However, I'm not sure I want one of my cars in there during
he drying process for the various treatments it has to go through should
omething be hanging in the air that would settle on the paint and do a
umber on it (obviously, ventilation is a must, and I've got that covered).
It looks like up to a week between the start of the cleaning and final
ainting, given all the drying time required in-between, and just the labor
o do it.
There are also a vast number of available products and coating systems to
ade through. Also, I'm fairly certain there is some sort of concrete
ealer on my existing floor, which would make surface prep more of a
hallenge. The floor is about 25 years old, few if any cracks, plenty of
tains but not terrible ones.
Thanks in advance for any and all input.
