Because I am now retired and would rather hit the rewind-play-rewind buttons on my AT&T U-Verse OnDemand recording
of The Car Show episode in question than actually do something productive today, I offer the following (near) verbatim transcript
of the piece in question -

--------------------------------

Funnyman and automotive freak, Adam Carolla - Rumorsswirling that de Tomaso is going to bring back the Pantera.

“TheSmokingTire.com” founder Matt Farah - Good call.

Pulitzer Prize-winning automotive journalist Dan Neil - Yea,absolutely. And is this the one with the Corvette ZR1 engine? That’s a classicformulation. Italian coachwork, big strong V-8. You know the old one had theCleveland – it was a Cleveland, right? –

Matt - Yea, Cleveland 351.

Dan - And the Bizzarrini had the Corvette engine in it, soyea I think that’s great. Now the original Pantera did put me to sleep becausethere is so much carbon monoxide coming from the engine compartment into thecabin.

Matt - Hopefully build quality will have gone up also in thelast forty years.

Dan - At least the ventilation.

Adam - I want to say this about the Pantera. Cause I lovethe Pantera, I hate the people that love Panteras. If you ever see the Panteradudes at the car show, they got the triple-chrome high- rise intake and theyput mirrors in the engine bay, and they put fins on the thing. I mean there’s aword……..

Dan – I though you were talking about the band.

Adam - No. No. Well Dan, more Italian……

Adam then does a segue into news on the last Veyron.

---------------------

Truth be told, apparently like GoNancy, I echo Adam's comments. Somewhat.

One of the things we all love about owning a Pantera is the freedom and liberty to modify them to our own personal tastes, and accordingly not take a holier-than-thou attitude about what other owners do in that pursuit. I prefer the stock-look narrow body, but if you said I could have another while keeping 2511, I'd grab a black Group 4 appearance car. Or a blue Targa Si. And while the GT5 is a logical evolution of Tom's original design, I feel they look better without the Delta wing. We are not only entitled to our own views about our own cars, but can also have views on what others have done to their cars. Each to their own. Acceptance but not necessarily endorsement.

I think we each feel there ARE some lines that when crossed are to the detriment of the car's style, beauty and heritage.

These vary for each of us.

Adam just stated his.
