[DeTomaso] Long Tube Headers for a 289 Needed (WTB)

By the way, I agree with what Mike Drew said about super comps. My point
was on an FE they drag. FPAs are much better, and on a 289/302 they
probably do not drag.

I had Hooker Super Comps on my 428 Mustang. They fit well, but they were so
low, they scraped on everything.

I switched to FPA, which were cheaper, fit much higher (more ground
clearance), and even sounded better. Dyno tests by others had better
numbers with FPAs. I didn't check first hand. With a 428 in a Mustang, you
don't worry very much about having enough power.

Granted, that's an FE in a Mustang. A 289/302 would likely fit perfectly
with plenty of ground clearance.

I used Blackjack in the 1980's. I loved them. Fit perfectly, cheap. It's
easy to please a teenager, though.

I used MAC and JBA on a 93 Mustang. The JBA headers were much better, but
2x the price.

But... I interpreted the original post as "does anyone have headers for
sale?" and not "which should I buy?"

It's generally agreed these are the best Mustang headers you can buy:

Available coated as well:

Yes, they're expensive!

I have these headers on my GT350 clone:

http://www.macperformance.com/store/product1.cfm?SID=3&Product_ID=1438

They only have a 2.5 inch collector instead of the 3-inch on the Super
Comps.   They fit pretty well.   Mine have a conventional flat collector;
now
they are using a ball-type collector.
