I own a '73 Dino 246GTS, a '69 Mangusta, a '68 Espada and a Superformance GT40. You can imagine what kind of questions I get when I take one of them to cruise night. I look at it as a kind of educational challenge and test of patience. The DeTomaso is unique among the?four marques, as it has no?"modern" cars running around and thus no "modern"? owner population. The owners of the newer Ferraris, Lamborghinis ( or should I say Audi-ghinis?) and to some extent the new Ford GT, can often be totally clueless as to the history and significance of their car's marque.?That just adds to the mis-information and misconceptions about the cars among the general public. I try to take all the questions in stride and be a good ambassador for each car.????

Admitted, I once was close to buying a 365 GTC/4. But today I'm glad I don't own
that brand. Was at car show yesterday, 4 Panteras, 5 Ferraris right opposite. Of
course most people around the F-cars. But listening to the stupidity of the
questions, the know-it-alls, the envious people and the many many wannabees, I
was happy I was in the other camp. "What's the fuel mileage, ha ha?" was heard
multiple times.
Around the Panteras (and Maseratis and classic Fiats and Alfas) the proper
enthusiasts were plentiful. Around the F-cars there wasn't room for them because
of the wannabees. If I owned an F-car, I would never park anywhere!
Anybody else has the same experience? Ferrari, great traditions, some great
cars, ridiculous running costs and unbearable fans :-)
Mikael
