first new vehicle I bought 1980 Toyota 4x4 P/U
3 different 1969 Camaros, 1 SB400 4 spd, 1 396 SS 4 spd, 1 RS with 350 and BDS 6-71 then later with a 427 BB.

Cars I've owned:

67 Cougar, 289 - rear ended on the 8th day of ownership by a drunk driver.
68 Mustang, 302, used it up, loved it, nice replacement for the Cougar
84 Mustang GT 2.3 Turbo - great daily driver, 34mpg, plenty of power, loved
it
93 Mustang Cobra - greater daily driver, less mpg but who cares?
67 GT500 replica, 428 - very loud, smelly, extremely fast, not that fun
because it was too extreme
72 Pre-L - favorite car of all time - getting close to getting it back on
the road - drove it 1,000 miles a month for several years - it stranded me
several times - that's why it is getting rebuilt.
01 Viper GTS ACR - great car, but not as great as the Pantera

Cars my family has owned:

68 Thunderbird 429, big car, my Dad's car, fast for a 16 year old
68 MG Midget - fun car, but very unreliable, my sister's car
69 Dodge Dart 340 - my brother's car, I drove it once, and it scared me to
death.  The steering was terrible
79 Trans Am, 400, 4-speed, very cool car.  My brother's car.  We both wish
we had it back.
81 Turbo Trans Am - also my brother's car, 301 turbo, no guts, but otherwise
a cool car, the turbo blew and he replaced it with a non-turbo 400.  It was
really fast with the 400, and then it was rear-ended by someone not paying
attention while we were stopped at a red light.  The 81 was first.  That's
why he bought the 79.
03 Mustang Cobra - my brother's current car.  Very fast with a cool blower
whine - not like the uncool spousable whine.
69 AMX - my sister's boyfriend's car (almost family) - very cool car - I
wish I had one of those.  I almost bought on instead of the Viper, but I
didn't want 2 old cars that were barely running.
60 Starliner 390 401hp - my dad blew one of these up while racing.  Ford
replaced the engine under warranty.

I've had only one Pantera, 2511, bought November 16, 2002.

It is not for sale until after my death, or when I can no longer depress the
clutch pedal, turn the steering wheel,
or throw the shift lever. And Ron Hyde's skills may be able to overcome some
of those issues if the need arises.

Thirty year dream car. With my finances, I was only going to be able to buy
one of many dream cars,
and the Pantera was / is THE one that got the honor.

I've driven 2511 over 47,000 miles in just under nine years. You do the
math. 1400 mile Vegas trip was the longest.

She has NEVER let me down, never had any failure that left me stranded.
Never. Close does not count.  ;-)

That is a better record than most - maybe all - of the women who have been
in my life.

Headed out to the garage for an afternoon detail session in five minutes.

Larry

P.S. - 2511 is just as lovely now as when I bought it nine years ago.

Again, that is a better performance record than most - maybe all - of the
women who have been in my life.
