There's an old saying in the oil business and probably others....

The engineer keeps on learning more and more about less and less until he
knows everything about nothing.
The salesman keeps on learning less and less about more and more until he
knows nothing about everything.
The geologist knows everything about everything, but keeps changing his
mind.
The company man/manager ends up knowing nothing about nothing and keeps
changing his mind, but won't admit it.
