Will,

The rear iron cover will probably come off when you remove all the nuts on
the studs. Remember that between the rear cover and the mainshaft bearings
are shims that may fall out when you remove the cover. How you're going to
reassemble the rear cover and choose the correct shims is another thing...
The aluminum rear trans casing will not come off with the trans in the car.

I finally got my rear deck lid opened yesterday. 180's are pushed in over an
inch. I had a bracket mounted to the tailpipes and 1 stud on the back of the
ZF. The stud is broken off and a small amount of the alum case around the
stud is broken.

Can the rear cover be replaced by simply removing all the studs?
