Lazy people will just use a knife and cut the windshield rubber. That is
not a good idea. The factory rubber seems to fit better than just about
anything else out there, and if it's in good shape it should be saved.
Any good glass shop will be able to handle this job for you. The
windshield is held in with friction alone (unless it's been sealed in afterwards),
and removing it is not something you want to watch. The pros will sit
inside the car and carefully kick it out of the opening onto the hood! They do
this professionally, gently and resulting in no damage to anything.
The chrome (or black) trim, rubber and glass come out (and go in) as a
unit. If you install the glass and the rubber, you can't then install the
trim.
