[DeTomaso] How fast have you driven?

In 2511, 130 on the Garmin.

Touched 140 coming in from Mt. Charleston outside Vegas at a FR.

But crosswinds were making front end a bit too floaty for my purposes.

As for speed being relative to the vehicle, I went home from my first FR with
the PCNC group, tailing at the rear of the convoy in my '95 302 F-150.
The speedo in that truck buries at about 90, and it ran buried a lot. ;-)
>From the time it took for the needle to start free floating after one of those
banzai runs, I figured the old girl was touching 105 or thereabouts.

Know those Fram oil filters with the black "grip coating"? I found the coating
burned off my filter when I changed the oil next time around. That was in 2001,
the truck is still running perfect with 190K on the odometer.

But perhaps the true speed-is-relative tale was my journey down the Grapevine into LA back in the early
1970's where I buried the speedo at 100 in my 240 ci straight-six 3-on-the-tree 1965 Econoline Super Van on the longest,
downhill sweep of the pass. By the way, that was my first mid-engined vehicle. :-)

Angels were watching.

Larry - We will leave out the really stupid high speed on city streets tales - for now.
