Woops- missed this one. ZDDP additive is really only needed with
flat-tappet cams, not roller cams. And its only needed there if you're running
seriously stiff valvesprings and aggressive camshafts, or to break in a new cam &
new flat-face lifters. By 2500 miles, things are as broken-in as they're
ever gonna get. I'd guess extra ZDDP won't make much difference in longevity
with your engine. Royal Purple XPR race oil seems to help quite a few racers,
and reportedly increases horsepower a liitle (10-40 bhp in a 600 horse-&-up
engine) as verified on the dyno, but at $17 a quart/$150 a change, its
becoming an investment! Some frugal racers run the same Royal Purple all year
long, adding a qt as needed even after 'engine freshenings'. They just filter
it and dump it back in. By the time the oil is worn out, so are the rings
and bearings and it's overhaul time. Good luck- J DeRyke
