The lower angular momentum of an aluminum flywheel should make it easier for the engine RPM to adjust to the input shaft RPM and reduce wear on the clutch disk.
 
I don't have any numbers on the angular momentum of the flywheel compared to the rest of the engine.  It must be somewhere, has anyone looked into it?
