[DeTomaso] DeTomaso Digest, Vol 80, Issue 31-Hard Launches

I wonder how much the inertia of the flywheel has to do with the possibility of damage?  Are you guys running aluminum or steel steel flywheels?  A heavy steel (or cast iron) flywheel might add enough angular momentum to make a difference.

I've been told that it's not necessarily whether you break the tires loose or not, it's also the moment of inertia of the wheels and tires.  Even if the tires are on ice, you could break parts because the wheels and tires resist instantaneous angular acceleration.

Hard Lauches breaking the Zf????
Not sure how you can get the tires to hook up
unless you are running crinkle sided drag slicks that
you heat up before you launch.. my Pantera has maybe
600 hp and if I hard launch with my Dot Road Race tires
it is really hard to hook up and all I see is smoke
... As we say the weakest link lets go and I would say
that it is the tires... I call it the governor or protector for the Zf

Bob Benson #3 Black Pantera
