Gary, on Ted Mitchell's website is info on the suspensions of both early
and late Panteras, which might help you.

Using the stock rack, the Pantera's bump-steer is correctible (on most cars
that are not twisted) by either two 5/16" thick shims between the rack and
the mounting surface. Or by a 5/16" thick shim-washer between each steering
arm and a heim joint substituted for a stock ball joint, using a stud with a
Ford taper on one end and a straight shank on the other. A 1/2-20 SAE
heim-joint will thread directly onto a Pantera steering shaft.
Shims betwen the rack and mount surface alters the Ackerman toe-gain as
well as the bump-steer, since the mount surface is at a 45 degree angle.
Shimming not only moves the rack down (reducing bump steer), it also moves the
rack forward, changing Ackerman. Good luck- J DeRyke
