I'm using an ACCEL system on my IR EFI on my Ford 400 block. I'm still
tuning but it seems to be working fine.

"I worked with software requirements in aerospace for about 24 years, and my
experience is that software very often does not do what you wanted it to do.
The more complicated it is, and the more data it uses, the more likely that
it will do something bad."

KIND OF A DEPRESSING THOUGHT. LIKE I SAID A COUPLE EMAILS AGO, AFTER
PLAYING WITH EFI FOR A YEAR (ON WEEKENDS HERE AND THERE), A REGULAR CARB IS
NOT LOOKING SO BAD.

I looked into several of these systems and decided not to convert to EFI.
Too many unknowns about how it will work with a modified engine. F.A.S.T
says their system won't work well with an engine that produces less than 10
inches of vacuum at an idle. I have heard that Retrotech doesn't have the
ability to work correctly with a modified high horse power engine. Holley
just came out with their Avenger series of self tuning throttle body fuel
injection systems and it has some promise of working, but still not
completely proven at least to me. The idea of using a throttle body EFI
system is simple to install, but I am still in doubt about the self tuning
ability of these systems.

For now I am sticking with a nice double pumper carb for my new engine. I
did installed a wide band fuel air ratio meter in my car last year and it is
amazing when it comes to tuning a carb. It takes the guess work out of
changing jets and I managed to pick up a mile or two to the gallon of gas
after tuning the engine using the gauge on my old engine. The gauge can also
be set up to tell you how lean the engine was at wide open throttle. This is
certainly not high tech stuff, but something that does give an edge to old
technology. _______________________________________________
