[DeTomaso] powerjection

FAST has a very good DVD explaining the operation and tunning of the XFI system:

There are several ways to tune the system, one is to fill in a VE table.  I think FAST just released new firmware that can use measurements from the O2 sensor to automatically correct the VE table.  That basically amounts to self tuning.

I worked with software requirements in aerospace for about 24 years, and my experience is that software very often does not do what you wanted it to do.  The more complicated it is, and the more data it uses, the more likely that it will do something bad.

FAST XFI is a ported, sequential fuel injection system i think (8 injectors, one in each intake port).  more complicated for sure.  the FAST EZ EFI and retrotek powerjection 1 and 3 (but not 2) are throttle body injection systems.  a little bit like a computer-controlled carburetor.  (I'm sure you know all of this already).  a ported fuel injection system like XFI requires the intake manifold to be set up to take the injectors, which is more work.  I don't think the XFI has any self-tuning capability, which means you probably need someone who is familiar with tuning EFI as well as a dyno to tune it on.    Because all modern sports cars use a system like this, many people feel this design is better than the older throttle body injectors.  However, i think both can work, the big difference is the tunability of the system, and of course the actual tuning. justin
