Definitely easier to do this.   Mark the body on three sides where the 
hinges line up, that way you can be assured of having the hood in the correct 
position when you re-install it.   It's MUCH harder to attach the hood to the 
hinges, than the hood/hinges to the body.

Mike (been there, done that, and have the dimple dents on the underside of 
my hood from too-long bolts to prove it...) :<(
