[DeTomaso] A/C Pressure Switch wiring

 I replaced my A/C compressor and drier so I added the high pressure cut out switch to the drier.   I've seen the excellent write up on wiring the switch to the A/C switch in the dash but I wondered if it made any difference to just wire it to the compressor wire.   Seems like it would be easier to just run wire to the compressor than have to run it through the firewall to the dash.  Thoughts?
