Does anyone have a napa replacement nbr for the stock rear brake pads? Sue #5197

>>>You can shop at NAPA for engine parts, but that's it. This isn't a Ford pickup truck,
it's an Italian exotic.

The good news is, several major brake manufacturers stock brake pads for the Pantera's Girling (UK) calipers.

Call Porterfield Brakes in California (www.porterfield-brakes.com) and tell them what you need and they'll hook you right up.

The rear brake pads have little tabs on the inside pads, which engage the slots in the pistons in the calipers.

Don't try to compress the pistons in the calipers just by squeezing them as you would with an ordinary single-piston caliper. You'll destroy the fine-thread parking brake mechanism inside.

Instead, read the shop manual and follow the procedure in there to the letter, and you'll be fine.

Oh, when you call Porterfield, ask for their R-4S (street) compound. Might as well replace the front pads while you're at it. The original pads will last for 100,000 miles and look like new. That's because they don't work at all. Modern pads are softer, and may wear out in 25,000 miles, BUT they will stop the car much better, and that's what's important. :>)

Cheers!

Mike
