Proabably absolutely true as some point in history.

I don't follow the adventures of the current shelby outfit, and have heard the 'glass cars may have changed origin. True or not? I cannot say. (We are talking decades of history . . .anyone working for shelby all those years?)

thanks for the updates, Mike.

Any car is only as good as it is prepared, I can discuss this offline if someone is taking the plunge.

  Not even close to true.

What confuses the issue is that Lance (Standar? Sp?) who is the CEO of Superformance, is also a Shelby dealer, and he sells the two cars side-by-side in his Irvine, CA headquarters. But it's interesting to go visit (as I have) to witness the differences between them.

Simply put, there is virtually no interchange between the two cars. Instruments, taillights etc. will swap over, but otherwise they are very different--even the windshields are completely different.

The "Shelby" cars have true, proper, correct bodies, patterned after a genuine car, and the chassis is completely original save for upgraded components like Baer brakes (original brakes are available for a hefty sum). The Superformance cars, while very nice in their own right, take numerous deviations from the original design, both in terms of the chassis/suspension (completely different from the original, and perhaps 'better'), and the body (which has a more pointed nose, shorter windshield, and a few other things).

The Kirkham cars are basically PERFECT Shelby cars, while the Shelby cars are perhaps ever-so-slightly-less-than-perfect. And the Superformance cars are great cars that look much like an original, unless you compare them to an original side-by-side at which point the differences start to stand out.

  Different strokes for different folks....
