[DeTomaso] 15in rims, trying to fit tires front & back

Yes Julian, the first ones in 1971 were actually Pirelli 215/70/15 on the
rear and 185/70/15 on the front.
7 inch wide campi rims on front, 8" wide on the rear.
225/70/15 was WIDER than the first tires were.

I have an April 72 Pantera, which I'm convinced still had the bald, worn,
original front tires on the front when I got it. They were Pirelli CINTURATO
HS 185/70 VR 15 tubeless tires "made in Italy"! I took photos before I threw
them away.
25K showing on the odometer. The rears on my car had already been changed to
an American 235/70/15 tire.

Then the 60 series LOW PROFILE Arriva tires came with the L type in late
1972.
C60V15 on the front, H60V15 on the rear... still not very wide by today's
standards, but very state of the art in the US market then!

  Barry,

You seem to be comparing a 225/70 to a 275/60, that is quite awidth
difference, were the original rears really only 225 width? The rear rims
will accomodate a wider tire and most run one, FWIW I have 305/50's on an 8
inch wide campi rim.

  Julian
