                 Ah, the fifteen inch tire crisis rears its ugly head again.
Basically, I think you're in a pickle.  Unless you get incredibly lucky,
you'll either have to take a civilian vehicle or you'll have to compromise.

                About six years ago, I had the same problem except the rear
Comp TAs wore out and I could not find a suitable replacement.  I ended up
using some S/T rated Japanese tire that was the correct size.  The handling
was terrible.  I had to air up the rear tires to about 42 pounds to get
enough stability in the side walls for non nauseating cornering and turning.
It was only OK in a straight line and any attempt at brisk curves or turns
quickly discouraged driving con brio.   So.....you can throw something on
the front and air it up for more sidewall stiffness.  If you do that, I
suggest you leave *early* for Reno because you'll probably be driving
*slower* than normal due to the unpleasantness of the tire stiffness
mismatch.

              After you make the trip, you can then proceed to solve the
wheel-tire problem more leisurely.

Hi,  I am in a real big mess now.  One of my BF Goodrich TA front tires has
a deep cut in it. The Ta radials have been discontinued, so I can;t just buy
one front tire. Front tires are 225/50/15 and rear 265/50/15. I have spent 6
hrs today trying to find a brand that has both sizes and have learned far to
much about tire sizing. Does anyone have any suggestions. I just can't
afford to upgrade to 18in rims and tires just now.  Sue
