Will,

Just to clarify, did you just change from the stock alternator with a firewall mounted voltage regulator?  Or did
you just replace a 1-wire alternator with another 1-wire alternator?

Also, do you have an ammeter or a volt meter in the console? 

There should be a heavier (#10 or #8) black wire that was connected to your old alternator's BATT terminal.  
That black wire should be connected to the BATT terminal of your new alternator.   The yellow wire should 
have been connected to the battery side of your original starter solenoid and to the voltage regulator.  That 
wire is not needed.  

Connect the blue/black wire to the alternator's #1 terminal.

Connect a wire from the alternator's #2 terminal to the BATT terminal on the alternator.
