Yes.

Leaner mixture runs hotter unless timimg is advance to compensate.
If the engine has the correct mixture, try advancing the distributor
(either initial or vacuum if you have an adjustable vacuum can).
I'd also put a wideband O2 sensor on it to check the crusie and wide
open throttle mixture.
