Tom, The white wire connects to one of the two terminals on the charge indicator bulb's socket. The other terminal on the bulb's socket should have a blue / black wire attached to it. If either wire were disconnected, then the charging system would not be working, UNLESS your alternator was changed to a one wire system. John
