Chuck,

I hate step one. This was more fun ten years ago. Now it's too stinkin hot
to get cool. I will have to fix it before driving to Vegas/Reno again which
should be in 2013 if the world doesn't end on 12-20-2012.

Dave

Dear David,

I have *not* done this repair myself, but what I *think* I know:

1) basically the dash needs to come off and out to get access to the fan
motor.
2) there are reports of determined, lucky and skilled individuals that have
accomplished fan motor removal without removing the dash. I am not one of
them. See number one.
3) if you use step one, then you'll be able to reference the archives for
the new options of a better blower motor and motor switches, which are
supposed to improve ventilation, according to several owners.
4) I always hate step one.....

                      Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

So, it’s the 4th of July weekend and we take a trip to Northeast Maryland to
tryout the new tuning on the fuel injection. It’s 98° out and 2 hours from
home the fan stopped blowing that cold air on us. This is not Arizona dry
heat, it’s Maryland wet heat. The motor is only 39 ½ years old. Why would it
do that to us when we need it the most. Anyway, it’s a 72 pre-L and there is
power going to the resistor so it must be the motor. Does anyone know how
much trouble it will be to get that motor out? Any tips? I drive it all
Winter, I’d hate to make it sit most of the Summer. Help.

Dave in Frederick, Md
