[DeTomaso] A plug it is!

I've had a 3 or 4 plugs inserted into bias ply tires.  The plug worked okay.
It was the old style plug that resembles a pipe cleaner with gooey glue all
over it.

I've had my wife's radials on her Porsche replaced with a plug/patch.  They
break the bead, and insert it from the inside out.  It is about a silver
dollar sized patch with a plug in the center.  It worked great.  They
couldn't do it if the hole was near the edge, though.

I wouldn't do it on a car that goes over 100mph, though.

I've never had a plugged tire fail, ever.

You mean a patch? 
 
Inserting a plug can damage the cords and lead to tire failure.
