[DeTomaso] Matching Numbers

[Pantdino]

To serious collectors -- like the guys who pay $80K or whatever for a 1000 mile, dead stock Pantera at Monterey-- matching numbers mean a lot.
To someone who just wants to drive and enjoy a car it means nothing.

o, I should take my after-market, hand made engine that cost more than my first

 That's what I thought and when I wrote a post to that effect several of the
 local "experts" pointed out very quickly that I was wrong. They said that
 beisdes the vin # and body # and headlight bucket #'s people are in fact
 interested in having the correct engine number and trans axle # all match
 and  original. So which is it? Matching numbers are important or they
 aren't?
