[DeTomaso] Blower motor replacement

That sounds more like a case of either reverse rotation of the motor or
left/right swap of the squirrel cages on the motor.

Jim,
Are you replacing the motor because the old one broke, or because it was
just too lame/powerless? I have a '71 and I can just barely feel a breeze
out of the vents and there is almost no difference between low and hi. My
air conditionaer works pretty good, but the fan doesn't have aenough power
to push the cold air into the cabin. I've been wondering about options to
increase the airflow. What sort of motor are you using as the replacement?
Thanks,
Mike

To all:

After reading my own post I re-examined the bottom edge of the squirrel cage
housing and it was in fact glued to the evaporator unit with some very good
grayish rubber cement. Two sharp-edged putty knives finally broke through
so that the housing could be removed. Not sure what it will take to get the
stuff off before the reinstallation. It appears to be the factory way of
sealing the housing.

Thanks to all who offered advice.

Forum:

I'm in the midst of replacing my heater blower motor with a new 3-spd unit.
As of now 1) I have removed the three screws on top of the cover on the
passenger side of the squirrel cage housing. 2) I've removed the four screws
and the half-moon clamp that holds the motor in 3) I've removed the brace
from the inside edge of the passenger side housing.

BUT I can't get the plastic housing to let go! The motor is loose but I was
afraid to use too much force on the plastic housing. It seems that the
bottom edge is somehow attached to the evaporator unit. It appears that
there is some sort of rubberized goop along the bottom edge. Could this just
be some sort of sealant that was applied to get a good seal on the plastic
housing? Does the plastic housing somehow snap into a connector of sorts on
the evaporator unit?

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks

Jim Gray
