[DeTomaso] Blower motor replacement

Forum:

I'm in the midst of replacing my heater blower motor with a new 3-spd unit.
As of now 1) I have removed the three screws on top of the cover on the
passenger side of the squirrel cage housing. 2) I've removed the four screws
and the half-moon clamp that holds the motor in 3) I've removed the brace
from the inside edge of the passenger side housing.

BUT I can't get the plastic housing to let go! The motor is loose but I was
afraid to use too much force on the plastic housing. It seems that the
bottom edge is somehow attached to the evaporator unit. It appears that
there is some sort of rubberized goop along the bottom edge. Could this just
be some sort of sealant that was applied to get a good seal on the plastic
housing? Does the plastic housing somehow snap into a connector of sorts on
the evaporator unit?

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks

Jim Gray
