[DeTomaso] NPC - Lesson on how to pass?

One only has to scroll down to the driver of the car responding to the
comment at the top. As Gray says, it was a reverse grid start and he says he
had 12 Exiges starting behind him. That means he qualified/finished 13th out
of 28 cars last time. The drivers in front of him drive no less aggressive
or close than him so I guess he's just following suit.

He didn't touch anybody so I don't see the why you think he has no regard
for his property or yours? and why would you assume the guy is an asshole?
My first thought when I saw this was he must have had a problem or penalty
in qualifying, but when I read the comments below I learned that this was an
inverse grid race. That explains why he was able to pass with more and more
ease as he made his way towards the front It also tells me there were likely
others behind him doing the same thing so he might have been battling to
stay ahead of his competition not showing off.

There is no doubt the dude can drive,

The point I was making was that SOME drivers have no regard for their own
property ( because they can afford to replace it easily ) or your property
( because they are assholes ) and forget that first and foremost, sportscar
racing in by and large a gentleman's sport. Some of us who have actually
done it and did it successfully, did so on a budget.
There is no bigger trophy for passing everybody on the first lap.

My own "Come to Jesus" moment occurred at Moroso Motorsports Park in FL,
while being a dick and showing everybody how good I was, I drove like an
idiot so that I could lap the entire field,
only to spin out after lapping the second place car with one lap to go -
because I used up my tires. I recovered in time to finish 3rd overall,
first in class.

The first place trophy was the same size for winning by 1" as it would have
been for lapping the entire field.

Races are won on the last lap in the final 12", everything before that point
just tells the world and your competitors what kind of person that you are,
had I an opportunity to decide to tap the dude in the video to save myself
or to simply drive off the track and re-enter and fall back, based on his
"balls-out", reckless behavior in the first lap of that race, I'd choose to
tap his ass right off the track, because he showed his lack of respect for
me and others.
As they say, what goes around, comes around.

It's different if you're rich or have sponsors who don't mind having their
brand represented by a dick ( M & M's for example ), put yourself in the
position of privateers like
A J Foyt, Robbie Gordon and others. They show up to race, work on their own
cars and some prima dona with some body else's money F/U their race and in
many cases their livihood.
Even Sarah Fisher deserves a break, she's there. How much fun would the Indy
500 be if there were only 12 cars from Andretti, Penske and Ganassi?

It's OK to beat everybody, just do it with a little class and regard for
their safety and equipment.
