FWIW, the People's Republick of CA just banned the sale of 100 watt 
incandescent bulbs. This is their usual heavy-handed attempt to force people to buy 
flourescent screw-in bulbs at 6X the price to help prevent the usual power 
blackouts and brown-outs in the summer. Of course, a little more 
science-friendly climate might result in more powerplants, but that seems to 
complicated to the politicos...
