IF he had been a new-car buyer, it may be possible to contact the Factory 
in Modena, Italy. For a fee, someone will look up the existing records. But 
that only works if the car was sold directly without a dealer/finance company 
having bought the machine first for reasale. If so, the dealer's name will 
be listed with the factory rather than a private individual, and you just 
spent $50 or so to find this out. If the car was gray-market-imported outside 
the Ford system, the situation is even murkier. 38 years is a really long 
time to try tracing such a thing on such skimpy info- Sorry. You'll do better 
to dig into his personal records and photos, I think. Good luck- J DeRyke,
