[DeTomaso] NPC: they've lowered the speed limit in Spain due to the situation in Libya

Today the Spanish government announced "temporary" measures designed to
reduce the consumption of oil/gas for as long as the situation in the middle
east remains turbulent. Right. 

 

They will be subsidizing trains, subways, and trams to try to get people
away from their cars. They will also lower the maximum speed limit on March
7 from 120 k/hr to 110. The intention isn't safety related, it is like the
55mph speed limit in the US in the 70's - the stated goal is to reduce fuel
consumption and oil dependance. 

 

I'm not terribly happy about this second measure.
