[DeTomaso] radiator deal

I'll add my .02 on these connections.

I recently replaced an older Hall radiator with a Fluidyne from Precision Proformance. My original was in the stand up position and I elected to drop the Fluidyne replacement into the same position. The Hall had welded 90 degree elbows so the rad was simply attached to the steel hoses by a short segment of Green Stripe. The corners of that radiator had rusted out but this connection seemed well enough.

The Fluidyne "dropped in" with a little tinkering (thanks again to Chuck Engles, Jim Gray and Todd Reid for their assistance). Precision Pro provided molded rubber elbows and clamps. We made all the connections, including double clamps, and the elbows just barely fit in the available space.

Long story, short... I spent the next few weeks fiddling around with the clamps to eliminate leaks. I've now gone two weeks without finding any coolant on the floor of my garage. **knocks on wood**

The Fluidyne looks very pretty and seems to be doing it's job. I haven't had any leaks from the radiator itself. The connections took a good bit of tweaking and as anyone with a stand up radiator knows, the space is EXTREMELY cramped. Do yourself a favor and make sure the clamps are positioned so that they are accessible for tightening, etc. Otherwise you'll have to pull the radiator to access them.

The molded elbows are not a permanent solution for me but they'll do, now that I've eliminated the leaks. I'm going to have a local shop fabricate elbows and a new set of stainless tubes. Fortunately I'm able to push that project down the road a bit. **again knocks on wood**

However in this case both appear to use 1 inch tubes so the 3 row should be more efficient at cooling with better flow (1/3 more tubes).

If someone offers 375.00 this guy on eBay will accept it and shipping is free. I thought it would be good to pass this info on to our membership. I ordered one and its on its way.It should arrive by the time we have our engine pull and we could check it out to see if its a quality piece.
