[DeTomaso] Mid America Pantera Roadtrip to Phoenix

Jim,

Ohhh, NOooooo. I would never suggest, nor encourage, traveling the
interstates at extra-legal speeds. Too much exposure to "citizens," law
enforcement and unexpected hazards. Not to mention the BORING factor.

However, as I remember it, that "Backdoor" into Lordsburg was a little
traveled, challenging secondary road that would give some good photo
opportunities and perhaps <cough> challenge the drivers.

Afterall, we don't want to promote irresponsible behavior in public, do we?

David

3 most popular Pantera lies?
"it's all stock"
"I always drive the speed limit"
"I was just trying to help that sheep back over the fence."

David,

Are you suggesting that there are those among us who would stoop to such
shenanigans?

Yeah, yeah . . . we've all seen this and discussed it. But it has me
thinking!

Witness the Pantera Urban Legends:

** Traversing NM at average speeds well over 100mph [1],
** The wholesale closing of southbound I15 to intercept a convoy,
** The infamous Cruise to Mt. Charleston interception,
** Traversing a sparsly populated western state at speed which precluded the
county law enforcement aircraft from keeping up,
** the first use among law enforcement of the term "shoot on sight speeds"
(all of which sound very much like something old Bill Fries would sing
about:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._W._McCall )

which all causes one to wonder if such behavior without adult supervision is
a
good idea.

If the Mid America Pantera Squadron Road Trip to Phoenix will meet me in
Albuquerque, perhaps together we can enjoy the Cruise to Lordsburg via the
Backdoor. (116 miles)

"Backdoor into Lordsburg" (sounds like a C&W song, donut?) OK, all together
now
(to the tune of Last Train to Clarksville) "Its the Backdoor to Lordsburg,
they'll meet me in T or C . . . ."

[1] Actually not a legend, but a first hand fact!
