[DeTomaso] Seat belt interlock box?

My wiring harness has the starter interlock button and a big yellow box with the number D4AB 14A554 since it's from a later model '74. I would assume that this is the seat belt interlock controller box, right?  Does everyone junk these boxes?  The circuit board is corroded at the terminals, but otherwise looks brand new.  I'll have to post a link to the pictures of the wiring harness...  I pulled the wiring harness out of the box and it now looks like I've let the genie out of the bottle.  Cut wiring here and there, cracked insulation, etc.  

Anyone advise against a total re-wire using a modern hot-rod or muscle car wiring harness?  The cracked insulation on major wiring like the battery cables kinda gives me the "willies."
