[DeTomaso] oil cleaning

What happens to all the special additives the Oil Co. say they put in the oil? Do they wear out over time or do they last for ever? Will they get filtered out at some point? If so then what?

Neat Idea, a cab company in NY a number years ago started putting dual
semi sized oil filters in the trunk. They went from changing oil in
traditional interchanges to changing filters every 10,000miles and
changing oil every 100,000 miles.
