Most aftermarket bellhousings use a variable height throwout pivot
ball-stud for the arm. Can you change the height of your pivot stud and thus move
the arm away from the opening? It means readjusting all the linkage, but it
saves trying to find a special bearing.
If the bearing is mounted on a carrier, sometimes the carrier can be
shimmed to produce a longer assembly. Or tack-braze a shim washer to the arm's
yoke.
Failing that, I've 'modified' bellhousing openings both ways with a torch
and grinder when necessary. Unless you're winning money at the drags, no
one's gonna say anything about a modified Lakewood even if its not quite
SEMA-spec anymore. Good luck- J Deryke
