[DeTomaso] DMV registration question for fellow Kalifornians.

I'm not aware of the CA DMV ever doing any safety / mirrors inspection on any car.
I think they leave it up to the cops to bust you for no mirrors / car too low / fender falling off etc.

No, they didn't even look at my car since it was already registered. If you go
NO, I think you will have to have the DMV do a safety inspection of the vehicle
ncluding lights and maybe mirrors and stuff like that? I would guess that they
on't even look under the hood? Even if you went the PNO route with the safety
nspection, I can't imagine them requiring the vehicle to be stock.

I remember when I went in to register my Pantera as a historical vehicle, I
as thinking to myself how do they know if it is or not? It seemed to me I might
ave been able to register a 1972 bug as a historical vehicle? My understanding
as that the car was supposed to have historical significance/small production
umbers? I don't remember seeing any clear definition as to what a historical
ehicle was. So, you might be able to register any pre 1976 vehicle as historic?
